IPM ASSISTANT MANAGER- OPERATIONAL
A leading floriculture enterprise in Kiambu County is looking for an Assistant Manager – IPM to strengthen its Integrated Pest Management function to enable the achievement of its business strategy.
She/he will be responsible for all operational activities in the IPM Department including checking and assessing quality of Pesticides/Bio-pesticides application on field, which includes spraying, Pulsfog applications, Cold Stores fumigations, intake dipping and greenhouse sanitation among others
Reporting to: the IPM Manager and in his absence to the Production Manager and the Chief Agronomist
Major duties and responsibilities
- Reduce the number of losses;
- Accurate scouting, proper and efficient response to control hot spots;
- High quality and quantity of stems within sustainable cost;
- Successful implementation of Bio Control programs;
- Efficient communication and implementation of IPM strategy.
- Accurate data collection and presentation
- Accurate calculation of Beneficials used.
- Accurate evaluation of new pesticides / biopesticides
- Be knowledgeable of pests and diseases and the chemicals that respond well;
- Controlled or reduced upsurge of pests and diseases
- Reduced use of chemicals
- Support Greenhouse supervisors in training and in particular develop the scouting skill in workers;
- Be proactive in Health and Safety and Environmental regulations;
Job specification and other information related to the job
- Qualification – BSc. In Horticulture or related disciplines, Scouts Level 2, training in IPM.
- Experience – A minimum of 3 years
- Key skills and qualities. Willing learner, industrious, honest, team Player, report writing and go.
