Farming for a greener tomorrow.
Growing Roses Responsibly,
Today and Tomorrow
Red Lands Roses leads sustainable floriculture in Kenya through innovative practices across energy, water, packaging, people, biodiversity, and carbon management, ensuring beauty aligns with planetary care since 1996.
Solar Energy
Since 2016, Red Lands Roses has scaled solar investments to 450 kW by 2025, powering 25-30% of farm operations including dam pumps, greenhouses, and company facilities. This cuts fossil fuel use, emissions, and costs, reinvesting savings into innovation while powering expansion to 45+ hectares of hi-tech greenhouses.
Water Conservation
A pioneering 100% closed-loop irrigation system spans 45 hectares of hydroponic greenhouses, recycling water via UV treatment, hydrogen peroxide sterilization, and nutrient recovery. Achieving 90% water savings, drip precision fertigation prevents groundwater contamination, maintains original murram soil integrity, and elevates luxury rose quality.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
In 2023, Red Lands Roses became Kenya’s first farm to eliminate plastic sleeves entirely, adopting 100% biodegradable FSC-certified paper sleeves and pin-free recyclable cartons. Clients across 16 markets gave 90% positive feedback for aesthetics and eco-credentials; recently awarded “Best Sustainable Packaging” at 2025 Kenya Flower Council Pinnacle Awards.
People & Community
People power sustainability: 80%+ female workforce with school fee support, on-site clinics, 100% private medical coverage, subsidised nutritious meals, housing allowances, and Gender Committee for equity. Zero recent injuries in audited areas, 80% staff confidence gains from training, staff bicycles reducing bus emissions, and top “Employee Welfare” recognition highlight retention above industry norms.
Biodiversity & IPM
Integrated Pest Management (IPM), companion planting, green waste composting, and custom low-water collection buckets minimize chemicals and waste on the farm.
Path to Net-Zero
Carbon neutral since 2020 via One Carbon World audits, offsets through Gold Standard credits, and wetland wastewater epuration. Certifications include MPS-ABC (top environment grade), KFC Silver, GlobalG.A.P., and UN Climate Neutral Now—targeting zero emissions fully in-house by 2026.
Sustainability is an ongoing journey
We regularly review our practices, invest in improved technologies, and work with partners to strengthen our environmental performance. Feedback from audits, partners, and internal assessments helps guide improvements season after season.
Our goal is not perfection, but measurable progress, growing better roses while leaving a lighter footprint.
Our Commitment: At Redlands Roses, sustainability is about balance: producing exceptional roses today while protecting the resources that make tomorrow possible. Through thoughtful farming, responsible resource management, and ethical partnerships, we remain committed to growing roses that are as sustainable as they are beautiful.
